| Description | I Purchased this magnifient MKIV Lincoln 2 years ago in Oregon. When it arrived I had the air conditioning system upgraded to R134A & fitted keyless entry to doors & trunk with ignition disabler. The car was thoughly checked over & serviced.
The lincoln had one prior owner and travelled only 47,895 genuine miles. These cars have 100,000 mile odometers, then back to zero, this car has not been around the clock! It has been a garaged kept car all it's life as any inspection would show.
Shortly after being delivered in 1973 someone had keyed down the entire RHS of the car; the owner must have been very annoyed but not concerned enough to correct the damage in the 33 years of ownership.
When I received the car the paint was absolutely magnificent apart from this nasty scratch so I arranged for the damaged side to be completly repainted. Work commenced but difficulty arose getting an exact match to an early metallic finish. A decision was made to bite the bullet & complete a total professional repaint. No corners were cut here, stainless & jewellery were removed for correct preparation; the result is stunning! There are no chips or dings, the entire body is faultless.
The Lincoln truly drives like a new car, it idles & pulls away smoothly, transmission changes are hard to notice. There are no rattles, it rides corrogations perfectly & can sit on 110kph all day without vibrations or noise. It will jump to life at the first turn of the key. This is the closest thing to a brand new car.
These cars are full of electrics & power/vacuum operated options, I can guarantee that everything works efficiently as it did when it left the factory. Believe me there are few used Mark series Lincolns that have all the features operational.
Needless to say this car has no rust or deterioration what-so-ever. The engine bay & underside are as clean & impressive as the rest of the car.
You can park it on your living room carpet, there are no oil leaks.
The interior is like a new car, leather is perfect as well as the carpet, head lining & dash.
If you want the best of the best, then this is it.
I am a car collector & have found from experience that in the long run it's cheaper to buy the best car available. Restoration or even correcting items that seem insignificant can be very costly indeed & swallow up far more cash than what is saved on buying second rate.
The Lincoln is currently on club permit but qualifies for full registration if preferred.
I am a member of the Lincoln-Mercury Club Of Victoria, (Google for web site), Carpoint won't allow listings. The buyer of the car will receive a complimentary 12 month membership. It would be nice for this car to remain in the club but of course that is a buyer choice. The club has excellent support services for Lincoln & Mercury owners so don't feel that owning a Lincoln means there is no support available.
FOR A QUICK SUMMARY:
BODY & PAINT: Perfect, show standard.
GLASS: Perfect
RUBBERS, FELTS & SEALS: Soft & serviceable, have not gone hard
CHROME : Gleams, no scratches, rear bumper has a small nudge mark which needs to be pointed out to see.
STAINLESS: Perfect except left rear wheel arch has a fine rub, will not see unless I point it out.
VINYL TOP: As new no deterioration. One professional spot repair, excellently done & hard to pick.
HEADLINING: Perfect
LEATHER SEATS: Perfect.
CARPET: Perfect
DASH TOP: Perfect
CLIMATE CONTROL: Perfect blows freezing air or cooks toast.
HEADLIGHT DOORS: No vaccuum leaks, they stay closed for about 4 days.
ELECTRICS: Everything works including the Cartier clock & both front seat sensors.
ENGINE BAY: Spotless, looks new & 100% correct.
TYRES: 85-90%
MECHANICAL: All perfect, nothing needs attention.
Why am I selling? Well its sat under a cover for 2 years & I have added less than 200 miles to the car. I have 12 other classics & 4 more in transit so unless I stack some vertically I simply have no room.
