Citroen has reconfirmed that its first SUV will be sold in Australia from later this year, ahead of the high-riding small car's global debut in Geneva next month.

Riding on the same platform as the Mitsubishi ASX, the C4 AirCross is a badge-engineered sibling to the Peugeot 4008 and offers the same drivetrain options. As is the case for the ASX, the Citroen will be offered in 2WD and 4WD, with the latter lockable for improved traction offroad.

Pricing is not available as yet, but the range kicks off with the front-drive C4 AirCross HDi 115, which emits as little as 119g/km of CO2, thanks in part to the frugal diesel engine and auto-stop/start system that is standard across the range.

Fitting roughly the same footprint as the ASX, the C4 AirCross measures 4.34 metres in length and can load as much as 442 litres of luggage. Comfort and convenience features that are expected to be available either standard or at extra cost, include touchscreen satellite navigation, a reversing camera, keyless entry/start and a premium audio system from Rockford Fosgate.
