Porsche's welcome to Rennsport

300 Porsches expected to assemble at Australia's first Rennsport Motor Racing Festival

Keep the weekend of May 25 and 26 free next year. That's the time – and Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) is the place – for the first Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival.

“Porsche Rennsport Australia is shaping up as the must-attend event for all Porsche enthusiasts in 2013,” says Porsche Cars Australia Marketing Director, Kevin Nicholls. “With over 60 years of Porsche history in Australia we have a large customer and fan base to draw from. The cars, the people, the tales ... the opportunity to be Porsche proud for an entire weekend and share a love of the brand will be on offer to all.”

Porsche Cars Australia is already hailing the event as likely to be the largest local gathering of Porsches to take place at one race venue. Rennsport ("Rennen" is the German word for 'to race') has been inspired by similar events in North America and the local event has the enthusiastic support of Aussie Porsche owners.

According to a press release from PCA, the racing circuit will resound to the roar of GT3 Cup cars, taking part on the weekend in a round each of the Carrera Cup Australia Championship and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia.

Enthusiasts are invited to participate in seven different categories of competition, so Rennsport clearly won't be merely a concours-style event – although there will be a 'show 'n shine' on the agenda.

Cayenne owners needn't feel left out either, with Porsche Sports Driving School instructors demonstrating the SUV's off-road abilities on a bespoke 4x4 track.
