Since launching in Australia in 2006 Walkinshaw Performance has given V8 fans something to drool about with an enticing range of bolt-on performance upgrades like the Commodore-based 480kW/802Nm E2 Supercar.
Now the Melbourne-based tuning outfit is turning its attention to other volume-selling Holden models with the release of a number of cosmetic and suspension enhancements for the Barina, Cruze and Captiva.
Available from Walkinshaw Performance dealers throughout Australia will be the full range of products from German tuning and manufacturing company Irmscher, which specialises in spicing up a range of family favourites from General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall brands.
Owners of Barina, Cruze and Captiva will be able to set their rides apart at the shopping centre with some eye-catching accessories including lowering kits, alloy wheels, spoilers, grilles, side steps and nudge bars.
"The decision to enter this market is based on two elements; the changing car buyers' market and the growing demand for products to enhance these vehicles," explained Walkinshaw Performance General Manager Tony Harris.
"Our emerging relationship with Irmscher in Europe means we are able to bring an extensive range of products to the Australian market," he said.
"While there is still enormous sales growth and potential in our V8 product line, we also know that our customers are keen to see the Walkinshaw touch on cars outside of Commodore."
Like with its Commodore performance kits, Walkinshaw is also planning to release a range of go-faster upgrades for Holden's mainstream models, although they're unlikely to be quite as radically transforming as some of its tyre-shedding V8 offerings.
"Soon we will be ready to announce our first performance upgrades for the new range and it won't be what people are expecting," Harris said. "We are acutely aware of the need for performance at a price, and performance that comes with an environmental green tick."
