Suzuki has announced the addition of a new variant to its Grand Vitara range from this week.

On sale now, the Grand Vitara Sport adds 18-inch alloy wheels, new cloth seats, a new grille and silver-coloured roof rails to the popular mid-size SUV package. It also comes standard with hill hold and hill descent control, all from $31,990 drive-away.

Suzuki says the Grand Vitara Sport heralds the return to full production of the Grand Vitara range, which has suffered from stock constraints since the earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit Japan this March.

“We remain on track for another record year and the Grand Vitara range – now boosted with the arrival of the outstanding Sport – is a vital part of our line-up,” said Suzuki Australia GM, Tony Devers. “With this new pricing, there has never been a better time to see why the 4x4 experts rate the Grand Vitara – the original compact SUV – as best in class.”
