Bentley will feature its new Continental GT and Mulsanne models at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne from July 1.

The all-wheel drive Continental GT coupé features the latest evolution of the British marque's acclaimed 6.0-litre W12 engine, the unit dubbed the 'world's most compact 12-cylinder engine'.

Building on the credentials of the outgoing mill, the new W12 is flex-fuel (E85) capable and develops 432kW/700Nm, propelling the Continental GT to triple figures in 4.6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 318km/h.

Bentley has further enhanced the drivetrain with an all-new six-speed Quickshift transmission with the introduction of its newest coupé, the car launched to local media in New Zealand only last month.

Ensuring the Conti isn't the only car to steal the Bentley stage, the new Mulsanne sedan will also premiere.

The marque's flagship model, Mulsanne features an all-new 6.75-litre V8 engine developing 377kW/1020Nm. Running an eight-speed automatic transmission, the $662,000 Mulsanne accelerates from rest to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds, topping out at 296km/h.

"Bentley vehicles definitely have a 'wow' factor to them," said AIMS director, Russ Tyrie.

"The undeniable class, the design and style, the heritage – people just know that there is something special about a Bentley.

"To have the Australasian public debut of a car like the new GT is very special for us – and I'm sure the Mulsanne will also be a crowd-pleaser."

The Australian International Motor Show opens at 6pm on Friday 1 July and runs through until Sunday 10 July at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
