French carmaker Peugeot has settled on the Melbourne International Motor Show as the venue for the global launch of its new model, the 308 Touring.

Arriving scarcely weeks after the local introduction of the 308 hatch, the 308 Touring is a wagon variant with a panoramic glass roof as standard and the option of seven-seat capacity. It's the first of a series of variations from the basic 308 theme (more here and here).

The third row seat option will face forward, necessitating access via the middle row seat rather than through the tailgate.

Peugeot has released little information on the new car, other than to advise that more information will be available at the vehicle's launch in the southern capital and final specifications and pricing will be confirmed ahead of the local on-sale date, sometime in the third quarter of this year.
