The name of a famous racetrack adorns two new limited edition models from Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo's latest limited edition models embrace the company's winning history at Monza, the famed Italian racetrack. The two new models in question are the Alfa 147 Monza and the Alfa GT Monza, following on from the limited edition Alfa 159 Ti released last week (more here), itself a model capitalising on Alfa Romeo's illustrious past.

Most of the changes to create the Monza editions relate to visual upgrades. Clearly visible through the spokes of the 18-inch alloys fitted to the GT Monza, the brake callipers are painted red, for example. Chrome highlights for the car, including the exterior mirror shells and the manual gearshift knob, feature a satin-effect finish.

Additionally, the GT Monza features reverse-parking sensors, red-effect instruments and sports seats trimmed in leather with red stitching. Prices are $53,990 for the GT Monza in manual and $55,990 for the Selespeed variant.

The 147 small car is available in its own upgraded Monza trim as three-door, five-door, Twin-Spark and diesel variants. According to the distributor, the 147 Monza gains an exclusive design of 18-inch alloy wheel, sports seats trimmed in leather, a chrome exhaust tip, chrome gear knob for manual variants, red brake callipers, a rear spoiler and satin-effect chrome on the external mirrors and sports pedals.

Claimed to represent $6000 of extra value, the 147 Monza is priced from $36,990 for the manual three-door with Twin Spark engine. The Selespeed option adds $2000 ($38,990) -- the same price as for the five-door manual Twin Spark, which is also available with the Selespeed option for the same $2000 price premium ($40,990). Topping the range is the 147 JTD (diesel) Monza, priced at $41,990.
