The new FG Falcon XR8 was unveiled today in Melbourne.

The XR8 shares its major equipment specifications with the XR6 Turbo and is differentiated by its Boss 290 5.4-litre four-valve V8 engine and signature bonnet bulge.  A new exhaust system with a Semi Active Muffler (SAM) produces a sportier exhaust note, without compromising interior noise levels at lower engine speeds.

Standard features shared with the XR6 Turbo include: limited slip differential, upgraded front brakes and 245/40 R18 tyres on 18-inch alloy wheels in a 'Y-spoke' design.  The ZF six-speed automatic transmission is available as an option and 245/35 ZR19 tyres on 19-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels are available as an option for all XR models.
