Holden has announced its Epica medium car entrant will debut at under $26K

Holden has announced pricing for its new medium car, the Epica. The Lion will debut its mid-sized car entrant at $25,990.

The three-car, two trim level line-up will range from that figure for the manual 2.0-litre Epica CDX through to $32,990 for the Leather Pack-equipped automatic 2.5-litre CDXi range-topper.

Unveiled to the public at the Brisbane Motor Show earlier this month (more here), the front-wheel drive Epica is unique in the segment in offering a transverse inline six-cylinder engine.

Holden is playing up the "refinement" of the engine configuration while at the same time going to great pains to point out the car matches or betters some of its four-cylinder competition in terms of official ADR combined fuel economy stats.

The Epica range hits dealers in April 2007.

Holden Epica range pricing

  • Epica CDX: 2.0-litre, five-speed manual -- $25,990
  • Epica CDX: 2.5-litre, five-speed auto -- $27,990
  • Epica CDXi: 2.5-litre, five-speed auto -- $30,990

Major options

  • Leather pack (CDXi only) -- $2000
  • Metallic Paint -- $360 (note: included in CDXi pricing)
