Mercedes-Benz will introduce a new entry-level ML and range-topping AMG version to its M-Class line-up in October. The V6 diesel ML 280 CDI will start at $77,900 and the ML 63 AMG at $159,900.
The ML 280 CDI is rated at 140kW with a peak torque of 440Nm, and uses 9.4 litres of diesel per 100km for a combined cycle. Mercedes says its introduction to the range is to add a more affordable option for luxury off-roader customers."The ML 280 CDI is a fantastic value for money proposition for customers who may not have previously been able to consider purchasing an M-Class," said Horst von Sanden, managing director of Mercedes Car Group in Australia.
The new ML 63 AMG boasts 375kW from its AMG 6.3-litre V8-engine, with maximum torque of 630Nm at 5200 rpm.
Mercedes has "streamlined" the M-Class range, adding the Luxury package as standard to the ML 320 CDI or ML 350 models. Features of the standard package include a choice of burr walnut interior wood trim or anthracite poplar wood trim, chrome package, compass, front seats with full electric adjustment, full leather upholstery and extended interior lighting package. Pricing now starts at $87,900 for the ML 350 and $90,000 for the ML 320 CDI. The Luxury package can be deleted if necessary.
Mercedes has also added two option packages. The COMAND package, which consists of COMAND APS, reversing camera and digital/analogue TV tuner is available for $8500 for the ML 280 CDI, ML 350 and ML 320 CDI models and $2900 for the ML 500 (COMAND APS comes standard on ML 500).
The Comfort package is available for ML 280 CDI, ML 350 and ML 320 CDI and is priced at $4000. The package includes automatically dimming interior and driver's side exterior mirror, electrically folding exterior mirrors, glass electric sunroof with lifter and a luggage retaining net.
