Alfa Romeo has won a gong in the World's Most Beautiful Car awards... And so has BMW, Citroen, Land Rover, Toyota and others...

The new Alfa Romeo 159 defeated the new BMW 3 Series to take the title of the most beautiful medium sedan in the world in the annual 'L'Automobile piu Bella del Mondo.' In other categories, BMW's Z4 Coupe Concept, Toyota Aygo, Citroen C6, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Range Rover Sport were honoured.

More than 60 new models were judged by leading European artists, car designers, architects and stylists in a number of categories for the awards. It was the 13th running of the 'L'Automobile più Bella del Mondo.'

The awards were presented in October at a ceremony at the Sforzesco Castle near Milan in Italy.

  • Category: medium Sedans (hatch)
    Fiat Punto Grande (second -- Renault Clio III)

    Super Daimler Eight (second -- Mercedes-Benz S Class)

    Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (second -- Aston Martin V8 Vantage)

Peugeot 1007 obtained a special Prize for the innovative design, while three special prizes awarded to the Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero, Pininfarina Birdcage and the Studiotorino di Alfredo Stole RK Spyder.
