Subaru's Forester headed a stellar list of contenders by scoring top votes as the Best Compact SUV in this year's Carsales Network People's Choice Awards.
The recently launched new generation Forester was rated ahead of competitors including Honda's CR-V, Nissan's X-Trail, Toyota's RAV4 and Hyundai's Tucson.
Commenting on the Carsales award, Subaru Australia's Managing Director Nick Senior said: "It's great to get an award delivered by people who are thoroughly researching their purchases and are obviously impressed by Forester's credentials.
"This is demonstrated by its significant sales success in Australia, which is reflected by the number of people seeking information about Forester variants on the Carsales network of websites.
"New generation Forester is being recognised internationally for its versatility, functionality and value."
The Forester is in the list of Australia's 10 top-selling cars, and has been the best-selling vehicle in its class for the past four months.
The full-time 4WD Forester shares a five-star ANCAP occupant safety rating, as well as a three-star pedestrian rating with the whole Subaru range.
The Carsales award supplemented numerous accolades for the Forester from other worldwide motoring authorities including the influential US magazine Motor Trend, the United States Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada.
