Opel and Vauxhall have already released the 'cooking' models of the new Insignia, but soon there'll be a 'sizzling' model to join the range.

Snapped here by our master spy photographers at Carparazzi, this is the hot variant of the Opel Insignia, circulating the Nurburgring. Powered by a turbocharged V6 believed capable of producing just over 300bhp (about 224kW), the Insignia OPC is fitted with a different front apron featuring larger air intakes. Side sills and quarter panels have been revised for the premium model, which also comes with larger wheels and a rear spoiler.

Whilst the Insignia OPC would make a useful addition to the HSV range, it's not all that likely to reach us here, unless Holden introduces the full Insignia range locally.

Any imported model sold by HSV has to form part of a larger range marketed by Holden. This provides the 'economies of scale' for parts and servicing -- and sales -- that would otherwise blow a hole in any business case for such a car as the Insignia OPC.
