Proton has acknowledged that the Satria Neo three-door hatch has not been competitive in its market segment by reducing the price of all variants.
The base-grade Satria Neo GX manual has dropped $2000 to $14,990 and the automatic variant is now priced $1000 lower -- $16,990. Also reduced by $1000, the high-spec Satria Neo GXR is now priced at $17,990.
Next month (September), Proton dealers are enticing prospective Satria buyers with a chance to win one of five Apple iPhones. By taking the Satria for a test drive, the customers become eligible to go in the draw.
The iPhone promotion is for the one month, but the reduced pricing is described by Proton as a market "re-positioning" and will continue beyond September.
"Satria Neo was the only model in the Proton range that was not ranked amongst the most competitively priced vehicles in its category and we knew it was due for a price revision," said Billy Falconer, general manager of sales and operations for Proton Cars Australia.
