Peugeot has released the first renderings of a hybrid concept that will debut at October's Paris motor show, but the Gallic marque remains tight-lipped about the vehicle's name.
"The 'RC...' whose full name will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show, is a hybrid concept car created from the passion and expertise of Peugeot's stylists and engineers," is pretty much all the French carmaker is prepared to say for now.
Peugeot is billing the concept as a 'GT coupe', even though it's quite clearly a sedan. This suggests it will adhere to the 'four-door coupe' genre coined by the Mercedes CLS and since mimicked by the likes of the Volkswagen Passat CC.
The latest concept is further proof that Peugeot is rediscovering good design form, as it follows in the wake of the 908 RC, which was one of the stars of the 2006 Paris show
It's also said to provide the missing link between the RC Spades and Diamond concept cars revealed in 2002.
Although technical specs are yet to be announced, Peugeot claims the concept is "a working laboratory of many future ideas and brings together numerous stylistic, engineering and technological ideas all in a single vehicle".
The 'RC...' is touted as an accessible and versatile car with four seats and "a highly innovative hybrid architecture".
The hybrid powertrain is said to be capable of churning out up to 230kW while producing CO2 emissions of 109g/km in the combined cycle or zero in electric mode.
"It is an exciting, eco-efficient vehicle which has all the characteristics that also ensure great driving enjoyment; a synthesis of ideas which demonstrates that respect for the environment and driving pleasure can be compatible," gushes Peugeot.
One needn't read too much into this flowery hype, but the 'RC...' concept is nonetheless shaping as one of the standout vehicles at the Paris show.
