Transsyberia Rallye: Lucky for some

July 2008
The 'Team Oz - Unfinished Business' Cayenne crew of Morley and Watson has finished the Transsyberia Rallye in 13th place outright

David Morley and Paul Watson have driven their Porsche Cayenne S to a 13th place result in this year's Transsyberia Rallye.

The Aussie crew had turned around their fortunes after last year's event, when they crashed out of contention.

This year, and in spite of a 10-hour penalty incurred on the first day of competition, the duo completed the 7200km route without major incident.

At the end of the rally, in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, the two Australians were relieved and exultant.

"I don't think I will ever do anything as special as this again in my life," said Morley.

One of the special highlights for the Aussie pair was placing ahead of WRC driver Armin Schwarz after a consistent performance on Stage 10. Their trouble-free run on that stage elevated them to 15th position outright with ninth fastest time for the stage itself.
