The organisers of the Australasian Safari have secured backing from Jeep for the 21st running of the event, commencing in August.
Both the new Cherokee (more here) and the Grand Cherokee will be dragooned into service, ferrying officials around the 3300km route.
"This is the first Australasian Safari that Jeep has been involved in, and it provides a unique opportunity to showcase our vehicles in true off-road conditions," said Jerry Stamoulis, Public Relations Manager for Jeep in Australia.
"Our involvement in the event goes with the Jeep philosophy, which is to have fun out there," he added.
"The Western Australian outback is the perfect terrain for our vehicles and we're really looking forward to our involvement in the event."
Safari competitors will depart from Kalgoorlie on August 23 and organisers expect the leading vehicles to arrive in Perth seven days later.
