Fiorino for the family

June 2008
Fiat will bring to market a five-seat version of the Fiorino van

It won't sell in huge numbers if it comes here, but the Fiat Fiorino Panorama would doubtless find buyers.

Based on the Fiorino van, itself a badge-engineered job shared with Peugeot and Citroen (more here), the Fiorino Panorama is expected to go on sale in Europe within a couple of months, according to our familial spy photographers at Carparazzi.

The Fiat-for-five will go up against the Citroen Berlingo Multispace and the Volkswagen Caddy Life. Given local Fiat distributor, Ateco Automotive, is marketing both the Fiat Scudo and the badge-engineered Citroen Dispatch in Australia, it wouldn't surprise us to see both the Berlingo Multispace and the Fiorino Panorama selling against each other here.

One thing that would concern us if the car goes on sale in Australia is the drastically rising hipline in the 3/4 rear -- a surefire way of running over the top of a kid mucking around behind the car.

Carparazzi advises that the Fiat will be sold in Europe with a 1.4-litre petrol four-cylinder or a 1.3-litre Multijet turbodiesel four. If the Fiorino Panorama does make it to Australia -- and depending on such things as currency exchange rates -- we would expect both those engines to be offered here too.
