Mini MPV for Kia?

Mini MPV for Kia? (June 2008)

Even the spy photographers were left scratching their heads over this vehicle, a possible mini MPV based on the Kia c'eed

It looks like a new model of the Mitsubishi Colt and we wouldn't have been surprised to be told as much.

But no, exhaustive questioning by our cat-killing spy photographers at Carparazzi suggests this is an as yet unnamed new model from Kia. The vehicle, spotted while brake-testing in the Swiss Alps, is believed to be based on the European-penned Kia c'eed. Hence Carparazzi's label for the car: c'eed Plus -- a reference to the Volkswagen Golf Plus, which is a similar type of vehicle.

This vehicle, in general terms, would be of similar size and application to the Hyundai Elantra LaVita, Daewoo Tacuma and Mazda Premacy, to name a handful of similar cars previously sold in the Australian market.

Carparazzi draws our attention to the five-stud wheels -- which are rarely used on what we would call light cars in Australia (sub-1.5-litre passenger cars) -- and the panoramic roof.

A former Hyundai designer, seeing these pics, informed Carparazzi about the vehicle and also suggests that the new model will be revealed at the Paris motor show in coming months.

It's probably too close to the Rondo for Kia to bother with this vehicle in Australia.
